Neca Freddy & Perseus

I stopped in at Forbidden Planet the other day and saw these two, I'm not normally a big buyer of 6" - 7" figures these days but something about them just caught my eye.
Neca's Nightmare on Elm Street (remake) and Clash of the Titans.

The sculpting is pretty good on Freddy and for such a small figure he's really well done. He comes with alternative head which sports a different expression and his little hat comes off (its a soft molded rubber and pretty good quality)

Perseus doesn't look quite as good but has a great range of movement, including a ball jointed neck and ball jointed elbows and knee's. meaning he's pretty damn posable.

Something I thought I'd highlight is the detailing on the rear of his shield. Not bad for 7" scale. Neca's been fairly strong these past couple of years. Covering a lot of cult movies and the Harry Potter series.

Ha he looks so small next to Marcus though.

Freddy and Perseus arguing over who's going to make tea tonight.

Not bad for the price (I think they cost £11.99 or something about there)
Just makes for more clutter on my desk though I suppose haha.

Hot Toys Blade Review Pt 1

Well after much consideration I finally ended up splashing out on Blade, I really wasn't sure if I was going to get this figure seeing as there's just so much on the horizon coming from Hot Toys. But after seeing all the accessories he comes with and how well done overall he is, I just buckled.

Anyway lets get cracking, he really is worth the money I paid for him. Right out of the box he poses with no problem at all and strikes you as really high quality. His outfit is superbly crafted and fits him well. He stands like most hot toys approx 12 inches tall. He's based on the not so good sequel to the much loved Wesley Snipes film Blade. To be fair I can understand why they covered the second film and not the first, The character Blade became more developed in the sequel with a more stylised look and a longer list of gadgets, which basically translates well into a figure :) which is what we all really care about anyway right?

Speaking of gadgets, Blade really has some cool guns and the attention to detail to each gun he comes with (3 in total) is really something. I'll cover his pistols in a bit but just wanted to mention how much I loved his Machine gun from the film. I always love square bulky looking guns for some reason heh. The magazine is removable from the lil replica below and over all it feels really solid and well made.

His leather outfit is really well replicated at this scale, its made from a pleather type material and as you can see it holds its shape and folds just like its 1:1 counterpart. The inside of his jacket is lined with a red satin like material, adding to the overall quality of the piece, also his jacket has thin wiring running through it in places so you can pose and shape the end of the jacket as you wish, guess thats for some bad assery type walking off into the wind type poses!

His sword and sheath slides into the hole on the back of his jacket and is held in place by a plastic catch. I generally just pose him with the sword in place like this.

The glasses are worth a mention too, I love the fact they are slightly transparent and not just solid black plastic, man 1:6 figures have come a long way in the past 10 years.

Its an overall strong sculpt by Hot Toys, they really caught the look of Wesley Snipes. Though I can imagine he's quite a bit easier to sculpt than some due to his more unusual features.

The glasses just pop right off him showing a steely gaze underneath.

Don't know why but I really love the boots, the photo makes them look pretty big, but in fact they are really small yet have such great detail.

With a small amount of effort his leather coat slips off and shows off the great padded vest he has on. Although his articulation range with the coat on is great, he really shines with the coat off. You can get some really high poses with his arms as you'd expect from the Hot Toys True Type body that Blade sports. Below are his dual pistols that I mentioned earlier. More on them shortly.

I love the way his outfit sits perfectly on him, Hot Toys do an outstanding job with their materials recently.

And of course he has his leg mounted Silver Stakes for killing those pesky Vamps. Kind of a shame but he doesn't come with his shotgun that fires them, not sure though, was that in the first film only???

The hair line and tattoo on the back of his head is amazing, it really sold the figure to me when I first saw the promo pics. Everything about this figure oozes quality.

Check back for part two when I take a look at some more of his accessories and go over his sword.

Hot Toys Blade Review Pt 2

Well here's part two, decided to split it into two because there's just so much to cover.
Blade's taken off his shades so he really must mean business now!

Of course Blade wouldn't be the same without his eh Blade heh.
Its nice to finally start getting a couple more Swords from Hot Toys, over the past couple years all we've seen is guns, guns, guns. I must say though, although I really like the quality and sculpting of the hilt, I'm a little bit disappointed that the actual blade is plastic and not metal. I've recently gotten into buying World War 2 figures produced by a company called D.I.D and all their characters that have swords or bayonets come with metal pieces. Sigh its just a small point though and Hot Toys are pretty good at disguising plastic as metal (given their terminator experience etc) so moving on..

The sword does come with a secondary hilt which shows off the hidden booby trap feature as seen in the movies. Blades fire out of the handle ripping into the hands of any would be thief foolish enough to try and steal Blade's trusty Sword. Of course, given the scale, these parts do not actually move and are just sculpted in position (hey can't expect everything)

He also comes with a pair of fist mounted extendable blades which are held in place with tiny straps.

Such a small addition that could have been easily overlooked, but not by Hot Toys.
The little blades slide out using a simple plastic mechanism. They really are cool.

He also comes with two Light grenades as seen in the film. (they released artificial sunlight when detonated, killing vampires, or I guess scaring off nearby Goths heh)

He also comes with a second Jacket, his bomber jacket. After long consideration however, I really couldn't be bothered with the stress of removing another layer to fit him into his jacket (I know call me lazy) From what I've seen it fits really tightly and looks pretty good.

He also comes with two folding throwing glaives. Sigh I always wanted one of the full scale replicas of these. Probably best I didn't get one though, I'd be too tempted to throw it about haha.

These things might not look it in the pictures but they are really small, like penny sized.

His dual pistols are also great, I thought I'd get a super close up picture to just show how small yet detailed they are. The top of the gun slides back and is even spring loaded just like the real thing. Madess!

As with the Machine gun, the clip slides out, even showing off a tiny bullet inside.

As others have stated, the amount of accessories he comes with is staggering. Accessories are always a big must for me and it always draws me to a figure if they have loads of extras and tiny bits and pieces. (yeah I know I'm a big child har)
Thought I'd include a list just to highlight what he has with him in the box:
- Sunglasses
- Double shoulder holster
- Short padded bomber jacket
- Two foldable glaives
- Two extendable hand blades
- Sword
- Scabbard
- Interchangeable sword handle with blades
- Five stakes
- Two UV bombs
- Machine gun
- Two custom handguns
- Four sets of interchangeable gloved hands (eight in total)
- Figure stand with Blade II movie logo and Blade nameplate

Well thats about that, I could have posted way more pictures than this, he has so much going for him. I really can't recommend him enough if you're into 1:6 figures.

DX Police Officer Joker

Hot Toys Joker, dressed as a gotham Police Officer. As seen in the Batman: Dark Knight. This figure comes as an extra with the DX Joker. (though you have to buy the base body itself Seperately)

Hot Toys Marcus Wright Review

Terminator Salvation! Well I don't know about most people's opinions on this film, but I have to be straight up and say I really enjoyed it. I've heard people say "it was at least better than Terminator 3" and although I agree, its still not really a fair comment, Salvation, I thought was wayyy better than 3; like in a different league completely.

Anyway When Hot Toys announced they would be covering the Licence to the film I was really excited, and boy they did not disappoint.
My first actual figure from this licence was the T600 figure (I'll get around to putting some pictures up of him soon) But firstly I wanted to show off Marcus Wright played by the Australian actor Sam Worthington.

He comes with two different Jackets, firstly he has his trademark Blue coat that he is seen wearing in the first half of the film, he of course takes this coat from a dead resistance fighter that he comes across. Part of the detailing on the jacket of this figure is top notch as in the below picture, he has the correct red marker on his left arm which signifies the coat belongs to someone who has "earned to wear the colours"

Additionally he comes with the jacket given to him by a female resistance fighter in the second half of the film. Personally I prefer the blue coat, but I can't deny how good the workmanship on this miniature leather biker jacket is.

In particular I love the rubber shoulder pad he has on his right shoulder, very Mad Max! Check out those tiny pockets with studs too.

He also has leather trousers on too, which are just as well made as the jacket, I especially love the boots and chap thingy's he has over his boots.

Once you get his jacket off you get down to the really cool stuff though. Just like in the film he has damage to his skin, which reveals really cool terminator machinery underneath.

His body is built from the standard (and really good) Hot Toys TTL body. It stands well and hangs with convincing weight. All the joints are stiff and can hold a pose with ease. Surprisingly his arm articulation doesn't suffer too badly from the latex covering each arm has. Underneath the latex skin there's some pretty rigid joints at work and the skin is just thin enough to allow a large range of movement.

Some close ups of the cool damage to his skin, Some people have said the blood looks comic and not real enough but I'm really happy with the grizzly look.
The skin is really soft and you can see right into the wounds.

Of course Hot Toys didn't stop there, he also comes with another head sculpt, like as in the film he has the skin torn back to reveal Marcus's Terminator skull underneath.

The detailing is great, and even close up, it still stands up to scrutiny.

I love the fact one of his eyes has the red tint to it, Normally I just display Marcus with the none damaged head as its the look I prefer, but I have been tempted to splash out on a second body so I can display both looks side by side.

Overall I am very happy with this figure, Great sculpt, Great outfit and all the extra pieces he comes with gives a great amount of variety when your posing him on your shelf. Here's one more picture of Marcus, look out behind ya sonny! Its one of them Torminata fellas!

A few photos from my collection.

Well here's a few pics of the stuff I've managed to collect so far. For those that don't collect or know about 1:6 figures, they each stand approx 12 -13 inches in height. Most of the figures I collect are manufactured by a company called Hot Toys, however I do also have a few Enterbay, Medicom, Sideshow and Takara pieces.

I got these cabinets from Ikea, they are actually not too shabby for the price I paid.

These are Hot Toys Figures From Terminator Salvation. Macus (blue coat) and John Connor are two of my favourite figures.

Above is the two DX (deluxe) figures that Hot Toys has produced so far, basically after doing Batman and Joker, they decided to go back and re-do both figures from the ground up. Both have way loads of accessories and both have moving Eyes which operates on the patented mechanic they call P.E.R.S

Ah Arnie! He was my first 'Muscle body' Hot Toy. He has a upper torso that's fully articulated but with a latex skin over the top, giving him a seamless life like appearance without the usual obvious joints.

The girl on the bike is a ZCgirl figure called 'Biker Chick Rosanna' She was well cheap compared to the rest and came with an in scale motor bike! The blonde guy Albert Wesker who is from a game called 'Resident Evil 5'. Hiding in the background on the right is my first and only 'Takara' figure so far.

This is my 'Enterbay' Shelf. The two Bruce Lee's on the left are based on the movie Fist of Fury. The Lee on the right is of course Kato From the Green Hornet Tv Series. And yeah I know Jack Bauer is kind of out of place heh.

Another full Hot Toys shelf, Wolverine, Michael Jackson and Hellboy from Hellboy 2

The three Star Wars Figures here started it all off. I got them cheap on Ebay and I've not looked back since. Incidentally Robocop was also my first Hot Toy figure.

Over the next couple of days I plan to upload more individual pictures of the figures I already own, however as always there's two to three incoming new figures so I'm sure I'll get around to doing some 'unboxing' pictures too.
